Soft Molasses Cookies

Day 24 in this 31 day challenge of daily blogging!


Craving something soft and chewy for that sweet tooth of yours?

Try these tasty molasses cookies!

  • Cream 2 cups brown sugar & 1 cup shorting.
  • Add 2 eggs, one at a time.
  • Add 1 cup molasses.
Stir in the following dry ingredients:
  • 3 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp cloves
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp vanilla
Alternate 6 cups flour with 2 cups of butter milk.
Chill dough.  { I just chilled it while I cleaned up my mess and in between putting dough on baking sheets. }
Bake for 375 until cookie springs back when touched.
NOTE:  you can frost with vanilla icing if desired.

  1. These look and sound awesome! What’s better than a few molasses cookies and a cup of coffee?! Nuthin! ‘Cept maybe a little snow fallin on the ground and a fire in the fireplace! You must have memories like that, right, Jolynn? While poor Jason has had to grow up in Texas! haha! Thanks for the recipe!
